What is a packing slip?

A packing slip is a list of the items inside a shipment, placed in or on the package. It lets the customer check the contents and helps your team confirm the order was packed correctly.

What should a packing slip include?

Your business details, the customer and ship to address, the order number and date, and each item with its quantity. Many sellers add return instructions in the notes.

Does a packing slip show prices?

It does not have to. Turn the price and amount columns off and hide totals and tax, which suits gift orders and shipments where the invoice is sent separately.

What is the difference between a packing slip and an invoice?

An invoice requests payment and shows prices and tax, while a packing slip only lists what is in the package. If you need both, make the invoice with the invoice generator and use the same order number on each.
