How to make a delivery note in three steps.

  1. Step 1: Set up the note

What is a delivery note?

A delivery note is a document that travels with a shipment and lists the goods and quantities being delivered. The customer signs it on arrival, which gives both sides a record that the goods were received.

What is the usual delivery note format?

Most delivery notes show the supplier, the customer and delivery address, a note number and date, an order reference, a table of items with quantities, and signature lines. Prices are usually left off.

How is a delivery note different from an invoice?

An invoice asks for payment, while a delivery note only confirms what was delivered. Many businesses send both with the same order reference, and you can make the invoice with the invoice generator.

Is a delivery note the same as a packing slip?

They overlap. A packing slip usually goes inside the package to list its contents, while a delivery note is often signed by the recipient as proof of delivery. Use the name your customers expect.
