Invoice Template for Services Rendered
An invoice template for services rendered bills work you've already completed, rather than goods you've shipped. Each line describes a service, when it was performed and what it costs, so the client can see exactly what they're paying for. It suits repair calls, professional services and any job billed after the fact.

The work is done. The paperwork can be too.
What a services rendered invoice should include
A clear description of each service
Say what was done, not just the category. 'Replaced failed router and restored connection' is easier to approve than 'IT work'.
The date of service
Note the date or dates each service was performed. It matters most when one invoice covers several visits.
How each line is priced
Show hours and rate, a flat fee or a per-unit price, so the client can follow the arithmetic.
Invoice number and date
Give every invoice a unique number and an issue date, so both of you can refer to it later.
Payment terms and due date
State when payment is due, such as Net 15, and the date that falls on. Vague terms tend to mean slower payment.
A reference to the quote
If the work followed a quote or estimate, include its number so the client can compare what was agreed with what was done.

Tips for service businesses billing for completed work.
Invoice when the job is finished
The value of a service is clearest right after it's delivered. Billing the same day or week keeps the invoice tied to that moment.
Attach service notes
A few lines or photos of the finished work answer questions before they're asked and cut down on back-and-forth.
Agree the price first on larger jobs
Put the price in writing before you start. The final invoice then confirms a number the client already expects.
