Musician Invoice Template
Musicians bill in sessions, songs and sets, often for several clients in the same week. Each session or gig is listed with its date and length, with cartage, charts and travel on their own lines. It fits a studio date for a producer as well as a wedding ceremony or a club night.

What to include on a musician invoice
Session or gig details
List the date, place and length of each session or set. For live work, add the set times and how many sets you played.
Rate basis
Say whether you billed per session, per song, per set or a flat gig fee. Producers and event planners check the math against what they booked.
Cartage, backline and travel
Moving heavy instruments, renting backline or driving to a distant gig costs money. Give each its own line rather than burying it in the fee.
Usage and union details
For recordings, note the intended use if it affects your rate. Union sessions may need contract or report numbers, so include them where they apply.

Billing tips for musicians.
Agree on who pays the band
On group gigs, decide whether the client pays each player or the leader invoices for everyone. One invoice from the leader is simpler for the client, as long as the band is paid promptly.
Price studio time in blocks
Sessions run long. Set a standard block, such as three hours, and a rate for time beyond it so late nights are paid.
Add travel for out-of-town gigs
Mileage, fuel and a hotel for a gig three hours away add up. Agree on them when you book, then list each as its own line.
